Michael W. Malafronte is a Founding Partner of International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) and serves as Managing Partner. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IVA, including company strategy and managing resources.
Prior to IVA, Michael was a Senior Vice President at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC where he worked for two years as a Senior Analyst for the First Eagle Funds as well as a variety of separate accounts and offshore funds advised by the firm. Prior to that, he worked for nine years as a portfolio manager at Oppenheimer & Close, a dually-registered broker dealer and investment adviser.
Michael has served on the Board of three publicly traded companies. He currently serves on the Board of Adtalem Global Education, a leading global education provider.
Michael earned a B.S. in finance and investments from Babson College.
Shanda Scibilia joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in February 2008 as chief operating officer and chief compliance officer. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations including human resources, technology, legal, and compliance. She is also responsible for reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission, managing regulatory examinations, and overseeing all books and records. Shanda monitors new rules and regulations, and implements respective policy changes.
Prior to joining IVA, Shanda spent 10 years at Oppenheimer & Close, a dually-registered broker dealer and investment adviser. Shanda served as the firm’s acting chief operating officer and head of compliance.
Shanda earned a B.A. in business administration from Wittenberg University.
Stefanie Hempstead joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in March 2008 as chief financial officer. She is responsible for oversight of all aspects of IVA’s financial operations and reporting for both the adviser and all products managed by the firm.
Prior to joining IVA, Stefanie spent 10 years at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC (ASB). She was a senior vice president and director of the financial fund administration group and also served as vice president and treasurer to the First Eagle Funds, advised by ASB. Prior to that, she worked as an accountant at Prudential and The Bank of New York.
Stefanie earned a B.S. in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and a M.B.A. from New York University.
Chris Hine joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in January 2009. Chris works with all investment products. His responsibilities include valuation, compliance, audit, tax, financial reporting, regulatory filings, portfolio reconciliation, oversight of operational software applications and overall day-to-day operations. Chris also assists the chief financial officer in overseeing service providers.
Prior to joining IVA, Chris was a manager in the hedge fund financial reporting division at Citco Fund Services. Prior to that, he was an assistant vice president in the financial fund administration group for the First Eagle Funds at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC and assistant treasurer at The Bank of New York.
Chris earned a B.A. in government and law from Lafayette College and a M.B.A. from Fordham University.
Philip Coniglio joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in May 2009. He is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of each of our investment products as it relates to operations and shareholder services. His responsibilities include oversight of the firm’s third party transfer agents and client/intermediary call centers, management of shareholder communications, and overseeing relations with distributors and intermediaries. As Chief Information Security Officer, he is responsible for information security and all technical aspects of the firm.
Prior to joining IVA, Philip spent seven years at Morgan Stanley. Philip served as director in the mutual fund department within the global wealth management group.
Philip earned a B.A. in economics from Rutgers University.
